The European Union Intellectual Property Office is ranked first, together with the Korean IP office and followed Singapore, United Kingdom and Mexico.
The user-focused approach, the tools and e-services available to our customers and the use of new technologies to future-proof the way we work, played a key role and allow the EUIPO to top the list, as in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 editions.
The use of Artificial Intelligence, the first ever European blockchain platform to better serve public IP institutions and clients, the SME Fund to help and support financially European small and medium-sized companies, and the cooperation with national IP Offices in Europe and worldwide are just some of the initiatives that helped rank the EUIPO as the most innovative IP Office in the world.
'At the EUIPO we believe in innovation and how it helps shape the future. We have led the way in developing robust online tools that help businesses throughout every stage of their IP journey. And we believe cooperation leads to innovation and vice versa', said Christian Archambeau, Executive Director of the EUIPO.
In the WTR special report, Mr Archambeau offers a detailed overview of how the Office has achieved this balance, and why it is central to how the EUIPO operates.
