Benefits of IP
On 27 September 2021, EUIPO received its 1.5 millionth design.
This milestone reflects EUIPO’s continued success as a modern European public administration and would not have been possible without the joint effort of so many colleagues over the years.
To get there, the EUIPO has tackled many different endeavours. The dream of a unitary design right for the EU had taken many years to come true. In 2003, the Office began accepting applications for Registered Community Designs (RCD), based on the EU trade mark’s resounding success which was launched a few years back in 1996.
Designed to be a flexible, inclusive IP right, and aimed at every type of user, from multinationals to individual designers, the RCD is a powerful tool for business.
