Following successful cooperation in the e-commerce marketplaces pilot project, Alibaba International has responded to the open call for expression of interest for e-commerce marketplaces launched in 2023 by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
Alibaba International expressed interest in cooperating with the EUIPO to achieve greater awareness of intellectual property (IP) rights among its sellers, including SMEs.
A joint effort between the EUIPO and Alibaba International will aim to raise awareness about the benefits of IP protection in e-commerce marketplaces, which play a key role in supporting online small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Empowering online SMEs to protect their intangible assets, one of which is their IP, will encourage a strong digital environment for the growth of businesses in the EU.
